About Me
CHUFFY CLARKE INTERNATIONAL SHOWJUMPER & Content creator
You may have heard of me from back in my Eventing days, but since COVID-19 in 2019, I have been a full-time Show Jumper. You may also be confused and have heard of me as Genevieve, which is my real name that I use for international competitions, but the rest of the time, everyone knows me as Chuffy.
Currently, I am breeding, producing, and selling talented young horses, and I am also now doing Equestrian Content Creation. After being in charge of The Billy Stud socials for over a year I have decided to offer my services to everyone, Reels, Photos or Social Media management.
Let's start at the beginning if you’d like to get to know me better. My love for riding began at a young age in the Surrey Union Pony Club on my first pony, Carrie. During my years in the Pony Club, I enjoyed the experience hugely and made lifelong friends whilst also catching the bug for competing. Winning the PC Novice Championships for Eventing and Dressage on my last pony, Jazz, was the highlight and the perfect way to end my PC career so I could take the next step.
At the age of 13, I made the move to British Eventing and then, at the age of 15, was selected for the South East England Junior Squad (known as JRN at the time). The team won the national competition, and I placed 8th individually on my first horse, Welton Jazz. In 2012, while still at school, I was runner-up in the U18 National Championships at Houghton Hall International; this result led to me being selected to represent Team GB at the Junior Europeans in France on the talented Uchin.
After finishing my Education and being based for the Summer with my trainer of 12 years, Lisa Ford, I moved to Pippa Funnell’s yard for a winter of education. I learnt so much in my short time with Pippa, who I continued to get help from for the rest of my Eventing career. I am still so grateful to say I have such a talented horsewoman as a constant source of knowledge and experience. From there, I spent two seasons with Rodney Powell and Alex Franklin at their base near Swindon; it was great for me to experience leaving home. I enjoyed my time there so much and have a lot to thank them for.
I felt ready to move back to Surrey and take over the yard at my family's house near Dorking. I was lucky enough to take on the reins of Second Supreme. We jelled very quickly and achieved some brilliant results at 4* level, including a 9th at Barbury on my first attempt at the level and then representing Great Britain on a Senior Nations Cup team at Houghton Hall, where we jumped double clear. Around the same time, I realised another of my horses, Dirk, was far more suited for the Show Jumping life, so it meant I took the opportunity to use him to focus on more pure jumping, which I had always enjoyed taking part in to help with my training. Slowly, I was doing more and more of the jumping, and when I came 2nd in the U25 class at Hickstead, I began to realise it was a path I wanted to take full-time.
It took some time to come to terms with it, but when COVID-19 hit in 2019, I saw that as the perfect opportunity to make the switch permanently. I couldn’t have done it without the help and support of William Funnell, Roger McCrea and my parents. It took some time to sell and buy new horses, but I never looked back; I’m 100% happy with my decision. I’ve taken the last few years to work out my strengths and what I enjoy most, and I have landed on producing young horses for the future and to sell. I get so much enjoyment watching them progress and feel I have the patience and knowledge to give them a solid start to their careers.
I hope you enjoyed learning more about me and have a look to see what services I have to offer x
